12 May National Women’s Health Week
Each year, National Women’s Health Week serves as an important reminder for women and girls to make take charge of their health and make it a priority. At New Horizon Health Center, we’re here to support every step of your wellness journey- from routine screenings to pregnancy planning and beyond.
Key Screenings Every Woman Should Know
Early detection saves lives. That’s why regular check-ups and preventive screenings are essential to maintaining long-term health. Here are some critical screenings we encourage all women to stay current on:
- Blood Pressure: High blood pressure often has no symptoms but can lead to serious conditions like heart disease and stroke if left untreated. Get it checked at least once a year.
- Breast Cancer: Depending on your age and family history, regular mammograms or breast exams can help catch breast cancer early when it’s most treatable.
- Cervical Cancer: Pap smears and HPV testing are vital tools to detect cervical cancer in its early stages.
- Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): Regular STI testing helps you take charge of your sexual health and prevent complications.
Thinking About Starting a Family?
If you’re considering pregnancy, now is a great time to schedule a preconception visit. Our providers can help you optimize your health, review medications, and address any concerns to support a healthy pregnancy from the very beginning.
